2016 is at its end and it has certainly been an ‘interesting’ year. It has been one with many mixed emotions; from making amazing new memories and friendships, to the craziness in the world of politics and to the sadness of losing so many amazing celebrities. It has certainly been eventful and one we wont be able to forget anytime soon.
America – For me, a 2016 highlight would definitely have to be me spending 13 weeks in America over the summer! I decided to finally pluck up the courage and apply to work as a Camp Counsellor and work on a children’s summer camp for 8 weeks (plus 3 weeks training) and then 2 wonderful weeks of travelling after camp. The experience was like no other! It is sometimes difficult to explain to people how amazing it was, it really was the experience of a lifetime. My first time going to America, first time going on a plane by myself (I mean looking back, I really did throw myself into it), and I am so glad I did! It has helped my confidence and has truly given me the love for travelling and seeing as much of this beautiful world as I can, it has even given me new friendships from all over the world, a truly amazing thing!
2 Year All Clear – Yes, I got my 2 year all clear in 2016 after my operation back in 2014! After being diagnosed with a tumour on my pituitary gland back in 2012, I did not know what the future held, whether I could go to university, or just have a normal life like any other teenager would have. It was scary, and not knowing what the future held did not help me! Looking back on it all now, I can see it has helped me in so many ways; I no longer live with regret, I no longer ask myself ‘what if this happens’, I just live each day to the best that I can, I look forward to the future, I want to travel and see the world, and I am a much stronger person because of it. My perspective on life has changed for the better!
Turning 21 – I turned 21 this year, and my mum and I took a trip to London (my first time going), and it was truly amazing! From the Harry Potter Tour, to Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and seeing Wicked in the West End. It was certainly a wonderful trip away. I am already thinking of planning another trip back to this wonderful city very soon!
University – I made it into the 3rd and final year of university! Where have the past few years gone? It is crazy, and a little bit scary when thinking about it. 2016 brought new friends, some who I love dearly, I was able to meet up with old friends too, which was just amazing!
Blog and Twitter – I had a few goals with my blog and twitter this year. Towards the second half of the year I took blogging more seriously, so I wanted to aim for 250 blog followers, and I now have over that and am getting closer and closer to 300 each day. I wanted 1,400 Twitter followers before the year was out, and I can very happily say I smashed that target and have just over 1,500 followers! Thank you everyone! I told myself to get involved with the blogging community on Twitter, and I am so glad I told myself that, the friendships I have made and keep finding new bloggers each day, seeing so many creative people do what they love to do is inspiring. I even told my friends about my blog, that was a big step and one I thought I would never do, but I did, and the love I keep getting from everyone is simply amazing, I am so grateful.
Thank you to everyone who follows my blog, Twitter or Instagram, you really are the people helping this blog reach new audiences, and I will be forever grateful. 2016 has been crazy, wonderful, weird and amazing! I grew as a person and I can finally say I am starting to love who I am, bring on the future!
I hope 2016 was a great year for you all and heres to an even better 2017!
